I think we can all agree that our eyes are very important to us and should be treated with care, so shouldn't we treat the eyewear/sunglasses we put over them with great care, also?
First, be mindful when cleaning your lenses and do not share used cleaning cloths with anyone (and this was the case even pre-COVID).
Here are the BEST ways to clean your lenses:
- Wash your hands
- Run your glasses under lukewarm water (NOT hot water)
- Use a very small drop of dish soap on your fingertips and rub both sides of the lenses and nose pads gently
- Rinse lenses with warm water and dry gently with a clean microfiber cloth
Simple and easy!
Because microfiber doesn’t leave lint behind, your lenses should be sparkling clean.
On the contrary, cleaning your lenses improperly can cause minor scratches and strip them of their coatings (even anti-scratch coating).
Here are some of the WORST ways to clean your lenses and should be avoided:
- Your shirt, t-shirt, etc. (no matter how soft you think it is)
- Window/glass cleaner
- Ammonia
- Bleach
- Vinegar or lemon juice
- Tissues or napkins
- Paper towels
- Exhaling onto the lenses
The most important thing to keep in mind before cleaning your lenses is to wash your hands and make sure your cleaning cloths are clean and washed when needed. If you own our microfiber cleaning cloths, they can be washed on delicate cycle and better if placed in delicates netted bag, if possible.
